We invited Mum of J to share her experience of her son getting Invisalign braces.
J first visited SmileDesigner when his adult teeth starting showing that he may need braces. He was holding onto his incisor baby teeth, of which Christina recommended he needed help getting them out. It took us a while to find the right place for teeth extraction, so a year later we were ready to begin!
Our intake meeting with orthdontist assistant Anna was our first real insight into what was possible for J. She took a full scan of J’s teeth and together with Christina’s advice we were recommended to go with Invisalign. Whilst taking into consideration J’s sensitivity, personality and lifestyle, this seemed the choice that would suit him best. Their high-tech practice gave us the opportunity to see what the results could bring – fantastic that SmileDesigner have this modern technology so you can get a real feel for the process and see the possible results!
Our next appointment was a month later when the aligners were ready to be fitted. Orthodontist assistant Estelle first cleaned J’s teeth and then applied the attachments directly to his teeth that are needed for the invisalign process. Everything was explained in detail and after all attachments were in place, J was shown how to put the aligners in himself and how the elastic bands work. He was given 2 boxes with all of the aligners for the next 29 weeks of treatment. Great to know he can take them out to eat, cleaning his teeth every time. Estelle explained that as long as he wears them 22 hrs a day he can progress to the next set after 7 days.
It was a much more simple procedure than I had anticipated, and thanks to the SmileDesigner staff for being so understanding, professional and patient. Their expertise really shines through and we felt completely reassured that we were in safe hands. It took a few days for J to get used to the new braces, but nothing I imagine, to having regular braces!
Now 3 weeks in we are beginning to see J’s teeth move already. It’s incredible to watch first hand, and see how J has taken full responsibility of managing his treatment. We can’t wait to see the final results!
