When do you need a myobrace?
Myobrace can be used in cases of poor swallowing habits (tongue between the teeth instead of against the palate), hypotonia (reduced muscle tone) of the lips and other functional anomalies. SmileDesigner works together with several speech therapists who can offer the Myobrace trainer.
The Myobrace can be used at any age to correct faulty oral habits. Each age group has its own specific characteristics.
- The very youngest (4 to 6 years)
- Children (6 to 10 years)
- Teenagers (10 to 15 years)
What age can you have a myobrace?
Myobrace Trainers are orthodontic aids which improve the dental and facial development of children between the ages of 5 and 15. The Trainer corrects the position and function of the tongue, teaches the patient how to breathe correctly through the nose and trains the muscles of the mouth (cheeks and lips). This enables the teeth to fall into their correct position.
The Myobrace stimulates correct breathing and swallowing practices. The use of the Trainer is an effective way to correct faulty dental practices. It can thus radically reduce the need for orthodontic treatment in the future.
How can my child use the myobrace trainer
The Myobrace Trainer can be used in combination with a training course. It is important that the patient also performs this on a daily basis. First, the speech therapist will draw up a training plan which will be discussed with you. The appointments with the speech therapist are weekly.
We start with training nasal breathing. It is important that a patient always breathe through the nose. This has many health advantages and enables the position of the tongue to improve.
